Switching from a physical to an eSIM or integrated SIM may appear to be a long and tiresome procedure for the new iPhone 14 or any other premium phone that supports eSIM capability, but it is really easier than you think.
On Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea, here's how to convert your existing physical SIM to an eSIM without altering your number.
1. What exactly is an eSIM card?
An eSIM is a SIM card that is incorporated in a mobile device and can connect you to any eSIM-enabled provider.
Furthermore, the eSIM functions similarly to a standard SIM card, but it does not require a physical SIM card to be used. It is really pre-installed in the device, and you may activate it by installing a new operator's "eSIM profile."
It is, in fact, a development of the physical SIM card. An eSIM card is becoming increasingly common in smartphones, tablets, and computers.
2. How does eSIM function?
With an eSIM-compatible device, you may effortlessly install an eSIM profile (supplied by operators/carriers) and purchase an eSIM data plan on the fly. Furthermore, you may utilise several operators and subscribe to multiple data plans at the same time to meet your demands whether travelling, working from home, or remotely...
For example, in 190 destinations, Ubigi may save you up to 90% on roaming charges when compared to your current carrier. As an alternative to poor quality or insecure Wi-Fi, we also provide one-time and recurring data subscriptions.
The eSIM is also known as an eUICC (Embedded Universal Circuit Card) or a virtual SIM.
3. What are the requirements for using eSIM?
Since the release of the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR, as well as cellular-enabled iPads and Apple Watches, Apple has supported eSIMs with physical SIMs.
In India, iPhone 14 series handsets will include a SIM tray as well as a space for an eSIM. These devices require an operating system that is no older than iOS 12.1.
To use an eSIM in an eligible device, one must also subscribe to a mobile network that supports eSIM. JIO provides eSIM services to its customers in India.
