
A single person can only be the owner of a Google Doc at a time, even though you can share it with many people. There is a simple procedure for doing this using Google Doc's Share functionality if circumstances change and you need to hand over ownership of a document to another collaborator.

1. How to Change Google Doc Ownership
Step 1 : If you know who you want to transfer ownership of a Google Doc to, open the document on a PC or Mac. This feature is not available in the Android or iPhone apps.
Step 2 : Open the document you wish to transfer by going to docs.google.com in your web browser.
Step 3 : The top-right corner of the screen contains a blue Share button; click there.

Step 4 : If you haven't already done so, share the document with the person you want to be the new owner. In the Share window, enter their name or email address and click Send.

Step 5 : Select Transfer Ownership from the dropdown menu to the right of the new owner's name.

Step 6 : Click the Send Invitation button.

Step 7 : If you want to cancel the invitation, select Cancel Ownership Transfer from the dropdown menu to the right of the person's name.

2. How to Accept a Transfer of Ownership Request
You should receive an email in your inbox asking you to approve the ownership transfer request if you are the recipient. However, if you inadvertently lose or delete the email, pending ownership transfer requests can be found in your Google Drive.

Step 1 : Launch Google Drive.
Step 2 : Enter pendingowner:me into the top search bar.

Step 3 : Right-click the document to which you want to respond and choose Share.

Step 4 : Accept ownership by clicking?

Step 5 : To confirm, click Accept.
