Visiting one of our upcoming destinations wouldn't be possible on a shoestring budget, but you can enjoy a king-sized trip with that money. We're on a budget, so we need to plan our travel expenses well. We're taking buses, trains, and using public transportation when we can.
The following 20 Indian spots could add a mark to your memories and travel log if you're up for it.

1. Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh:
From the Assam railway station at Tezpur, Tawang is two bus rides - each about 200 rupees - away, situated far away in the valleys of Arunachal Pradesh. There may be less than 3000 rupees involved in a 4-day trip to this pristine spot.
2. Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh
In Arunachal Pradesh, an untouched valley far from the reach of the average tourist can also be reached by bus from the Tezpur rail station in Assam. The valley has several budget hotels and guesthouses, so an average 5-day trip can be enjoyed within a budget of just 4000 Rupees.
3. Kausani, Uttarakhand
Few sites in the Himalayas can compete with the beauty of Kausani, and for those living in and near Delhi, Kausani is an excellent value. If you skip the excursion packages, you can enjoy a gala at Kausani for a bit more than Rs 1500 a day. That's not awful at all.
4. Hemis, Kashmir
Hemis is a lovely valley that stretches over the Leh tehsil. In fact, a truck travel from Manali to Leh may cost as little as Rs 500. Given the simplicity of the village, the stay and cuisine are a deal. Consider the possibilities!
5. Nubra Valley, Ladakh
Approximately 150 kilometers north of Leh lies Nubra Valley, Hemis' twin sister. Traveling between Hemis and Nubra Valley under a bus would be a short journey between Hemis and Nubra Valley if you were feeling adventurous. You could use this opportunity to make two trips.
6. Khajjiar, Himachal Pradesh
Again, easy pickings for people from north India. Khajjiar is located just outside of Dalhousie on a tiny plateau. With a rail journey to Pathankot as little as Rs 1200, Khajjiar is only a bus ride away. Khajjiar also has low-cost accommodations, albeit one might stay at one of Dalhousie's hostels.
7. Matheran, Maharashtra
Matheran, South India's Grand Canyon, is a lovely hill station for people searching for a retreat. Take a train from Mumbai to Neral station, then a toy train up to Matheran for a few hundred dollars. Within 3000, a four-day excursion to Matheran could be experienced in king-size. That's a bargain in my opinion!
8. Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh
Spiti Valley, a desert mountain valley high in the Himalayas, is one of the most beautiful and relaxing places in the north. Both Lahaul and Spiti are best reached by vehicle from Manali, over a picturesque and meandering journey. Because the valley has been virtually unspoiled by commercialisation, lodging and food are dirt cheap.
9. Kullu, Himachal Pradesh
A bus travel to Kullu and back from Delhi, coupled with a four-day stay, would be considerably more than pleasant any time of year for those up north, only a few kilometres north of Bhuntar. In fact, Kullu would be an excellent starting point for shorter visits around the area, including Rashol and Kasol. Go wild!
10. Ooty, Tamil Nadu
Most of us are familiar with Ooty's magnificent vegetation. Travel to the Deep South during the summer and board both heavy and light trains for a vacation you won't soon forget. With so many budget stay houses in Ooty, everyone may discover the perfect location to stay on a budget.
