After many days of political unrest, Boris Johnson, the British prime minister, was compelled to announce his resignation.
After receiving more than 50 resignations from his cabinet, Mr. Johnson made the remarks in Downing Street. Mr Johnson's ultimate crisis came with the resignations of his Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, and Health Secretary, Sajid Javid.
It came after a slew of scandals and allegations that Mr. Johnson lacked moral character and had repeatedly misled to both his party and the nation.
Mr Johnson stated that he would continue in office until his Conservative Party picked a new leader. However, several top Conservatives have urged him to resign immediately.
